Residents of the Maranoa region are being told to prepare for a severe thunderstorm passing through the area today, Friday 27 January.
Areas affected include the towns of Roma, Charleville and St George.
According to a warning issued by the Bureau of Meteorology at 9am this morning, hazards likely to occur include heavy rain, damaging winds, and potentially even large hail, with strong winds and rain expected to take place further west.
Towns along the Warrego River have also been asked to remain flood-aware as river levels continue to rise.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, towns upstream of Charleville may be impacted by minor flooding as a result of high river levels around the 27 Mile Garden area.
The Bureau warns Charleville residents that the Warrego River level is expected to rise up to the minor flood level of 4 metres, with minor flooding possible at Bakers Bend where levels may reach the 5 metre mark by Sunday.
