Celebrating the Change Makers

Maranoa Regional Council invites the community to join them in Volunteer Week Celebrations this upcoming week, Monday, 15 to Saturday 21 May.

The Change Makers is this year’s 2023 National Volunteer Week theme.

The week will provide an opportunity for people to recognise, celebrate and thank the volunteers as the change makers of the Maranoa, a celebration of the region’s power to drive change.

Mayor Tyson Golder strongly believes the volunteers of our region go above and beyond to provide never-ending opportunities to residents.

“Often our volunteers are the ones who work behind the scenes to keep new residents involved in the community – particularly with local activities – such as, sporting teams, social groups, service clubs and much more,” he said.

Volunteers are encouraged in joining organised events in both the NVW and the events happening in the following weeks. No cost will be made towards the volunteers.

Many Grant Writing Workshops with Wombat Creative facilitator, Samantha Morris will be hosted by the council.

Ms Morris will be running face-to-face workshops in Mitchell and Roma along with virtual workshops for the communities in Bendemere, Bungil and Warroo.

“At least 20 per cent of the Maranoa region do some form of voluntary work. This is significantly higher than the rest of regional Queensland and above average in the whole of Queensland” Cr Golder said.

Bookings are essential for all events and workshops taking place throughout the region. To book your spot, or for more information, please call your Local Development Officer on 1300 007 662.

Come on and celebrate us as we come together in recognition, appreciation and honour for our history-changing volunteers.
