As voting day for The Voice to Parliament referendum edges closer, early voting centres will open up.

Whether they choose to vote on Saturday, 14 October or before, Australians will be asked to answer ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to the following question:

“A Proposed Law: to alter the Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice. Do you approve this proposed alteration?”

The Australian Electoral Commission is helping residents in some of the Maranoa electorate’s more remote communities cast their vote by establishing remote voting booths in locations such as Begonia and Mungallala.

Federal Member for Maranoa and Leader of The Nationals David Littleproud said these remote booths were vital to ensuring locals in regional, remote and outback Australia could participate in democracy.

“The Maranoa electorate includes some of the most remote communities in our country and the AEC is making it easier for those Australians to cast their votes on this referendum,” Mr Littleproud said.

A total of 26 Maranoa communities will host a remote voting booth from 25 September until referendum day on 14 October.

“I encourage members of those communities to come together, do their civic duty, and make their deeply personal decision on this referendum,” Mr Littleproud said.

“Whether it’s by post, a remote voting booth, at an early voting centre or at your local polling booth on October 14, I encourage everyone to cast their vote.”

Remote polling centres will be available in:

Begonia, 27 Sep

Amby, 28 Sep
