Arson detectives from the Crime and Intelligence Command have released a computerised image of a man allegedly linked to a dozen suspicious fires in the Western Downs earlier this year.

Between January and April, 12 fires were deliberately lit in bushland near Tara and Wieambilla.

More than 4,600 hectares of land were destroyed, along with 14 homes and a number of vehicles and other structures.

Extensive investigations indicate an early 90s model white Toyota Landcruiser utility was observed near several of the fires.

Detectives have released an image believed to be this vehicle, which has a distinctive metal frame visible on its tray.

Further investigations resulted in the description of a person of interest to the investigation.

Using this information, detectives developed a computer-generated picture of a man who is described as in his late 40s, 175cm tall with a proportionate build, fair complexion and grey hair and beard.

Police urge anyone with information regarding the investigation, the identity of this person depicted or information regarding the vehicle described, to come forward.
