Mayoral Christmas Day in the park

Maranoa Mayor Tyson Golder wants to share ‘fellowship and a feed’ on Christmas Day with Roma residents.

Cr Golder, his wife Natalie, and some of their children will be hosting a free Christmas dinner and family friendly activities at Apex Park from 5pm.

“Last year was the first time we did a mayoral Christmas in the park on Christmas Day and it went well,” he said.

“It’s just pretty low key and casual, it’s for people who have got nothing on and sometimes Christmas can be a bit average.

“There’s often a lot of people away from home, people who have lost loved ones, and Christmas can be lonely and also some people just don’t have anything on, so it’s nice to have an invitation to come down and join us.”

Cr Golder said depending on the weather, there would be hot and cold food on offer and family games.

“Sometimes Christmas is the loneliest time of the year,” he said.

“The idea is if you’re not doing anything, come down and have Christmas dinner with the mayor.

“Come and have a feed and a bit of fellowship.”
